Surya packs his bags to the US
With Vel’s shooting wrapped up and being readied for a Diwali release, Surya is ready for his dream role in Vaaranam Aayiram. This Gautham Menon film was stopped midway as Surya needed a complete transformation in the looks department, which he used to his advantage by doing Hari’s Vel meanwhile.Gautham who had dabbled with Chennayil Oru Mazhaikaalam is now ready to continue VA from where he had left, having done all the groundwork for the remaining part of the shoot.Surya, Divya, Sameera Reddy and the technical crew along with Gautham are traveling to the US, temporarily putting on hold the shooting of his Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam starring Trisha. Trisha’s wish fulfilled
Some time back, Trisha expressed the wish that she be given an opportunity to act in films that would provide fodder for her acting abilities. Her wishes are to be fulfilled now.Moser Baer and Prakashraj’s Duet Films are co-producing ‘Abhiyum Naanum’ directed by Radha Mohan. Trisha is Abhi and Naan in Prakashraj. They play daughter and father in the film.Even though she acted in films with Prakashraj before, Trisha says this film is special for her. Khushboo refused to act as Trisha’s mom so Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will do the role instead. The shooting is happening now in Munnar. Like in ‘Mozhi,’ music is by Vidyasagar and lyrics by Vairamuthu. For working in this film, Trisha has turned down offers opposite popular heroes. That’s because she considers this her dream film.‘Abhiyum Naanum is my dream film!’……Trisha is back in Chennai after completing her schedule for a Telugu film with Ravi Teja. The actress had been visiting some of the beautiful locations of Pucket islands, the place known for its picturesque locations and unlimited night entertainments in Thailand and Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur for the past two weeks. Now she is busy with her Tamil project Abhiyum Naanum produced by Prakash Raj on behalf of his Duet Movies in collaboration with Moser Baer. Trisha plays as the daughter of Prakash Raj in this Radha Mohan directed film. She has left today to Munnar to attend the shooting of Abhiyum Naanum. In Abhiyum Naanum, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy plays as the mother of Trisha. It may be recalled that actress Kushoo had rejected the role few days back for some reasons. For the first time the actress is playing as the lover of a new boy in Abhiyum Naanum.According to Trisha, it is not the face value, but the story value of Radha Mohan forced her to accept the film even without any question. “I’m proud to be part in Abhiyum Naanum and the film is a dream project in my career. I hope the film will reach new highs in Tamil Cinema…” Trisha Says. The film is scheduled to release in February 2008.

Mozart of Asia - A.R.Rahman
‘Mozart of Asia,’ musician Allah Rakha Rahman has done everything from classical to reggae and now with Shekar Kapur’s ‘Elizabeth: the Golden Age’ awaiting release, where he pairs up with Hollywood actor Craig Armstrong, he is very excited. “It has been really a wonderful experience working with Craig. We traveled a lot in places like Glasgow…Remotely working with the guys in London,” says Rahman who was in the capital recently. The singer-composer has his hands full with a lot of films, the latest being Ashutosh Gowarikers ‘Jodha Akbar’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Ashwariya Rai Bachchan. Jodha Akbar is a romantic story about a king falling in love with a princess and ARR has tried to keep the music contemporary so that it satisfies both critics and the music lovers. The music of the film is very much what is required for the film. It has celebration songs and quawallis.. Rahman, who composed the music of Subhash Ghei’s ‘Kisna’ is once again paring up with the director in his latest flick, ‘Yuvraaj’ which is a very challenging project. Practically A.R.R had a tough time composing the first two songs but now as those have been cracked he will be able to wrap it up quickly.

Shreya gets 50 lakhs for a weeks shoot
While Shivaji - The Boss was surely a windfall that did a lot for actress Shreya Saran’s career. It gave her low profile career a high profile boost. After Shivaji was an astounding success, she almost lost out to Kamal Hassan’s Dasavatharam when she asked for 70 lakhs, which was her new price after Shivaji’s success. She even went to extent of saying that she will wear a swimsuit if required but only if the role demands it.Well while may say that she is pushing her luck, she has succeeded with one filmmaker. In Indiralogathil Na. Azhagappan, she is acting with Vadivelu. News about the two shooting for a dance in the movie was all over the media recently. Shreya apparently was paid 50 lakhs for her role in the film the shooting of which required only a week’s call sheet from her side.Lets how long more she will last with such as high price.

Sameera is Surya’s heroine?
Gautham Vasudeva Menon has been on a heroine hunt for his Vaaranam Aayiram, since the launch of the film! First Deepika Padukone was approached, but she preferred to be Shah Rukh Khan’s heroine, then it was Asin but she had no dates. The lovely Genelia was signed, but when the shoot did not happen on time, she opted out. However, ‘Kuthu’Ramya plays one of the heroines. So the search began all over again for the coveted heroine’s role. The shoot of the second schedule of the film was to start at Berkley University in US in the first week of October. Trisha who was doing Chennayil Oru Mazhaikalam with Gautham was approached, but she had already committed her dates to Kuruvi and Abhiyum Njanum, which will go up to the year end.Gautham immediately flew to Mumbai, and met a lot of Bollywood stars like Tabu, Nandana Sen, Shamita Shetty and few others. The latest we hear is that the hot sexy siren Sameera Reddy flew down to Chennai last week, and had discussions. Gautham has sort of agreed to take her for the role of a beautiful NRI in an American university who falls for the hero.Sameera the dusky beauty of Musafir and Taxi Number 9211 fame and a few Telugu films is today transformed herself into a beautiful, even more sexy siren, after going through a fitness regime. Now it is up to Surya, to put his stamp of approval on Gautham’s choice as his Vaaranam Aayiram heroine.Surya is away in Switzerland shooting a song with Asin for Vel, and should be back in Chennai by October 3. Bhanu the dress designer of the film who is also with the Vel unit will have to come down and have a costume rehearsal on Sameera before the US schedule of Vaaranam Aayiram begins from October 10.

Asin unhappy with Dasavatharam Press release!
Asin is back in Chennai after completed her Swiss schedule for Vel with Surya. The actress is unhappy with the press release of Dasavatharam which says that the actress lends her voice for the first time in Dasavatharam.Asin clarified that right from her Debut film M.Kumaran Son of Mahalakshmi she has dubbed her own voice in all the films acted.Asin Says: “I wonder how the Dasavatharam crew has forgotten this. From M.Kumaran… to Pokkiri I have dubbed my own voice. In Ghajini Hindi also I’m lending my own voice. I have taken extra care to dub for Dasavatharam in which I’m playing as a Tamil Brahmin girl, and dubbed the way as it is spoken in Thanjavur. For me, to become a complete actress, she must dubs for her own. Own voice should give more authenticity to an actress…”According to the actress, she had completed her dubbing for the first half of Vel with in one and half day.

Return of Charmi!
Remember Charmi, Simbu’s Kathal Azhivadilai heroine? After doing some insignificant Tamil and Malayalam films, she struck gold in Telugu. She played the role of the bubbly and mischievous “Little Miss Sexy” in Telugu films like Lakshmi, Pournami, Style etc, but could not make it to the top.Now after four years Charmi, is making a comeback to Tamil films in a heroine oriented role in director Prabhu Solomon’s (Kokki, Lee fame) new film Laadam, opposite a new boy. The rumour mill has it that Charmi is playing the role of a female gangster, and has five top south Indian villains opposite her!Laadam is being produced by Chola creations, with music by Dharan. The shoot of this gangster thriller will start by the end of the month in Chennai. For Charmi it is her second innings in Tamil, and she may grab more roles in Tamil where there is acute shortage of glam girls.

Four releases this Friday!
Suddenly October 5, is turning out to be the big Friday for Tamil films. Four medium and small movies- Katrathu Tamil, Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam, Thavam, Veeramum Eeramum are ready for release. All the four releases are significant in their own way.Katrathu Tamil- There is a lot of pre-release hype around the film, with Jeeva saying it is the best film he has done so far. The director Ram Subbu has graduated from Balu Mahendra school of film making, and Yuvan has made soul stirring music with his Appa singing a song in the film, which may become popular once the film releases. It is also Jeeva’s big ticket to being recognized as an actor of substance. And comedian Karunas has taken the distribution rights of the film for entire Tamilnadu.Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam - Ranjit is trying to get a foothold as a hero with this film, where Vivek plays a parallel hero role, and also has Sindhu Tolani. The first half of this film is a full of comedy inspired from the Malayalam Jayaram film Uthaman, and the second half is steamy sentiments. The film is directed by Selvabharathy and has music by Deva, and is aimed at B & C audiences.Thavam, has Arun Vijay in the lead as an action hero along with Vedika and new girls Arpita and Vandana, and comedy by Vadivel. The film is produced by our “Action King” Arjun and directed by Sakthi Parameswar, with music by D.Imman and said to be an out and out action movie with lots of songs and glamour. For Arun Vijay it is one more chance to prove that he has the making of an action hero, and let us hope that lady luck favours him with a hit.Veeramum Eeramum- It is the real life story of the dreaded don of south Tamilnadu Venkatesha Pannaiyar, who was killed in a police encounter during the previous Jayalalithaa regime in September 2003. Pannaiyar for the locals was a modern day Robinhood and an important caste leader. Saravannan after that brilliant performance in Paruthiveeran, is playing Pannaiyar in the film , while his wife’s(now a DMK, MP) role is done by Sonia. The film is directed by Sanjay Ram and has music by Yugendran, Malayasia Vasudevan’s son.

Efforts galore – Jeeva in Katradhu Tamil!!
Katradhu Tamil (previously titled Tamil M.A) hero Jeeva in a press conference in chennai says “The shooting of this movie has been going on for one year now. The past 75 years of tamil cinema has seen a lot of unusual movies. This movie also will fall into that group. Till now I have acted in 7 movies and the efforts I have put in those 7 movies have been given to this movie alone. This movie is of International standards. Efforts are on to show the movie in Cannes film festival. This movie has not been produced keeping awards in mind. Katradhu Tamil depicts the struggle of a Tamil graduate in our society. The quality on the movie is on par with Hollywood”.There are no gossips surrounding him and any actress. He feels since all the heroines in his movie mostly have a guest appearance he has not been caught in the gossip web.

Advertisements only for Christine
The heroine of the movie ‘Chennai 600028′ is Christina Zedek. She has distanced herself from tamil movies and is currently doing only advertisements. She got the oppurtunity to play the lead role in ‘Chennai 600028′ in her modeling days and after the movie did not get any good offers from the tamil industry. She also did not take any active steps in getting any offers. Hence she is back to her modelling and is now concentrating only on her modeling and ad film offers.Discussing this she says she does not have any acquitance or friends in the flim industry. This is one of the reason that she does not get any good offers. The rumors that she goes out with actors of ‘Chennai 600028′ and is trying to get offers in the industry through them is not true and she is not in contact with any of the actors in that movie, she says.

If she does the film she’ll be seen in the role of a beautiful NRI in an American university who falls for the hero.Sexy siren Sameera is looking ever more beautiful after her fitness regime.
